Course Description
C / C++ Overview is an instructor led training course designed for
managers who must manage C or C++ programming projects. Participants will create, compile,
link, and debug C and / or C++ programs. This course will stress the most important
fundamentals of C and C++, as well as concepts pertinent to program development
management. Topics covered include: the philosophy of C; Why C; C vs. C++; advantages and
disadvantages of each; software tools; selecting a compiler; C and C++ language
fundamentals; writing code for speed, portability, compactness, and maintenance; K&R C
vs. ANSI C; information sources; debugging techniques; and writing readable code.
Participant Materials
Approximately 50 pages of desk top published notes.
Duration of Training
1 Day, 9:00 to 4:00 (course times may vary)
Course Prerequisites
Previous programming experience is desirable but is not required for
this one day overview course.
Terminal Objectives
To provide the participant with an understanding of the most important
fundamentals of the C and C++ languages, as well as some of their advantages and
disadvantages. Understanding of these basic concepts will allow more efficient management
of C and C++ Software Engineering projects.
Course Structure
Lecture, discussion, demonstration, and hands on programming exercises.
Some time is available for hands on programming exercises. Alternatively, this course can
be taught as a lecture only course..
