Course Description
Intermediate AutoCAD is an instructor led training course which covers
more advanced topics than Introduction to AutoCAD. This course picks up where the
Introductory course stops, and lays the groundwork for the Advanced AutoCAD course which
covers native 3D wireframe and surface design exclusively. Principle topics covered
include: more advanced drawing and editing commands, XREF and cross reference drawings,
paperspace and modelspace, 2D polylines, DXF and IGES CAD database interchange, using a
digitizer (if available), 3D filters and simple 3D commands, simple menu customization,
web based CAD collaboration, and some CAD system management concepts.

Course Prerequisites
CAD-1 or previous AutoCAD experience, approximately 3 to 6 months
Terminal Objectives
The objective is to enhance the students fundamental understanding of
AutoCAD and provide a more thorough working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Course Structure
Lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands on practice with specific
commands, followed by relevant drawing exercises. As much as possible, drawing exercises
will be made relevant to the students basic field of work; i.e., Mechanical Engineering,
Civil Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, Landscape Architecture, etc. A
minimum of 50% of the course time is spent on hands-on activities. .
