System: .............................Windows
Course Description
Advanced AutoCAD is an instructor led training course that is entirely
3D based. This course is designed to follow CAD-1 and CAD-2 and provide the tools and
familiarity required for the participants to work effectively with 3D wire frame and 3D
surface models in native AutoCAD (Mechanical Desktop not required). Topics covered
include: full 3D database; 3D cartesian, cylindrical, and spherical coordinate systems;
right hand rule; 3D wire frame entities: 3DFACE, 3DMESH or surface patch with cubic
B-spline, quadratic, and bezier smoothing; 3D surface entities: TABSURF, RULESURF,
REVSURF, and EDGESURF; 3D coordinate point filters; how to utilize 2D and 3D CAD; using
multiple viewports; world (WCS) and user coordinate systems (UCS); UCSICON; UCS follow;
dynamic viewpoint with front and back clipping planes; 3D polyline; and parallel or
perspective projection.
Participant Materials
Head, Pietra, & Segal "The AutoCAD 3D Book", Ventana
Press.
Approximately 40 pages of desktop published notes.
Duration of Training
3 Days, 9:00 to 4:00 (course times may vary)
Course Prerequisites
CAD-1, CAD-2 or 6 months of previous AutoCAD experience
Terminal Objectives
The goal of this course is to provide participants with the tools and
experience necessary to be able to work in 3D. Also to illustrate the differences between
2D and 3D models and how they work together most effectively.
Course Structure
Lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands on practice with specific
commands, followed by relevant drawing exercises. As much as possible, drawing exercises
will be made relevant to the students basic field of work; i.e., Mechanical Engineering,
Civil Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, Landscape Architecture, etc. A
minimum of 50% of the course time is spent on hands-on activities. .
