Engineering and Programming Experience
Mechanical Engineering
Finite element analysis, stress, thermal and dynamic analysis, failure
analysis, computer programming, mechanical design, and project management. Have done
engineering design and analysis work on: high voltage electrical connectors, wire
terminating machinery, hoists and cranes, submarine sonar cabinets, missile
radomes, diving equipment, nuclear waste melters, custom heat sink design for
FPGA's and CPU's, and thermal cooling of electronic components.
Ocean Engineering
Design of a diver propulsion vehicle, diver decompression computer,
pressure compensators for a deep diving oceanographic submersible, conceptual redesign of
the main propulsion system for a submersible, and an experimental study of CO2
scrubbers for divers.
Electrical Engineering
Design of custom single board computers for a dive computer, differential
pressure instrument, and general purpose controllers.
Software Engineering
Engineering stress and thermal analysis in FORTRAN, BASIC, C, and C++.
Software drivers for real-time ROM based single board computers in C and Z80 assembly
language. Database applications in dBase and CLIPPER. Real-time BASIC program to control
vacuum chambers for testing satellites. Custom AutoCAD applications in C and C++
using the ADS, and ObjectARX API's.
